Many state that you need very little resources to start a home business and you can work the hours that are best for you, this may be true. Developing an opportunity mindset is one key to your success. Your business success is largely determined by your thoughts. There are many false promises to those who do not complete due diligence in researching the right home business fit. Many spend a lot of resources (be it time or financial) in building their home business only to become frustrated because it isn’t a success. The Small Business Administration “reports that small business make up 99% of the 26.9 million businesses in the United States, they also report that seven out of ten businesses fail within the first two years and about half again fail within the first five.” So why do you want to start a home business? What is an important factor in becoming a success? Marketing, not only marketing your home business but the need to market yourself, create a brand. A profound question that many who start small businesses do not ask themselves, when marketing to the public is how do I brand myself? What is it you do that will make you stand out from the competition? Why are you the leader in your profession or market? How is your small business going to help your clients or customers?

Your level of success depends on how you market yourself and how much time and effort you are willing to put into your business.

Since many home business owners are everyday people who probably never took a marketing class, how do you learn how to brand yourself? Write down a vision statement (five years), write long term (one year) and short term (3 month) goals on the steps you are going to follow every day to reach that vision statement. Remember becoming wealthy is a mindset and not just a financial status. Include steps on self improvement is a large part of the branding process. The mind is a goal-seeking mechanism; the purpose of setting goals is for you to move forward. Goals set must be clearly understood and reachable. Participate in striving for a one percent change on a daily basis in cultivating patience and work habits that will get you the results you desire. Stay focused on your vision statement and the goals you set and continue to follow the brand. Whatever we internally focus on becomes reality.
